Bathing was of the most common activity to do during Ancient Rome, it was very popular throughout the different social classes. Water were supplied by pipes in Pompeii, and they were taxed according to their different sizes. Many houses thought that these water supplies were getting too expensive as they need more and more water to do other supplies like washing their clothes so they decided to go to local baths. The local bath was like a gathering of people around the neighborhood, the could relax, calm down, have a rest, chat with people and keep up to date about everything.
There were more than one huge bath were everyone could go in. Each bath contains different temperatures that could be compatible to your liking. They could either use a cold bath which is also knowns as the frigidarium , a warm bath also known as the tepidarium and the hot bath which is also called the caldarium . Many people would lie down in each one of these baths before they left. Some baths could be connected to a gym area which includes a swimming pool and a gymnasium.
