Pompeii is under the Roman Republic. In the Republic, they have two consuls that lead the magistrates of Rome, they are elected for one year to govern the Republic and maintain law and order. They have the highest position in the government.
Senates are the governing advisory council that are made up of magistrates and ex magistrates. They are advisers to the consuls. The members of the Senate were not elected, they were chosen by the Consuls and once they were chosen they would have to serve for life, it was a permanent job. During the monarchical period, the Senate contained 300 members which consisted of patricians, and they were broad and undependable.
