- Getting Around -
Normally Bicycles can be rented for use, this are very useful for a short trip, but many sites require walking to get into. Bicycles can be used to get close to the site, then walking is required (WARNING: Only cycle if you are well and fit enough because this requires a lot of energy. Cyclists are also warned to keep out of the heat, doing long strenuous exercise can easily cause heat stroke if not cautious enough.)
If you are travelling to Pompeii for a while, cars can be rented for. It is not too pricey and it would give you a lot more freedom to drive around. The car parks are not expensive at all as they are approximately €4 per hour. There are always nearby train stations around, costing about €2.30, depending on where you go. You could also catch a plane to Rome, Italy and transit to Pompeii if your airport does not link to Pompeii. Rome, Italy to Pompeii would only take 2 hours and 3o minutes. |
