- Eating and Drinking -
There is not much food and drinks in Pompeii. Make sure you bring a long a backpack with lots of snack and drinks to keep you full and hydrated.
Not drinking in such a hot climate is a very big danger, you can easily get heat stroke or dehydration. Food can be bought at the gates to Pompeii, but our advice is to bring along food with you. Many vendors will be trying to sell you water. Try not to buy these as they are usually trying to rip you off. But if the situation gets desperate, you should buy some water. Another tip is not to gulp down all your water at once because other wise you will need to go to the toilet. There are not many toilets in the Pompeii ruins, so you don't want to get stuck. Always bring foods that don't make you thirsty e.g. mame noodles, etc. these foods have a lot of MSG and they make you want to drink more and more. The types of food you should be bringing are fruit (they contain water), cereal bars, food with lots of carbohydrates, etc. these foods give you energy and water (fruit) |
